Britons are carrying out a green revolution, starting in their own homes, it has been claimed.

Spurred on by the joint incentives of cutting back on financial outgoings and saving the planet, growing numbers of households are carrying out work with the aim of reducing energy consumption levels.

However, a significant majority are not simply content with installing energy-saving devices, but rather want to combine environmental efficiency with contemporary chic, the glass design company Apropos has explained.

"People are being influenced to a certain extent by the 'celebrity eco-drive', but by and large they are driving themselves to become more eco-friendly and to live more sustainable lives," Jason Pardesi, a spokesperson for the firm explained.

"This really has been a catalyst for the eco chic revolution of late; people want sustainable style, not just sustainable," he said.

Anyone carrying out an "eco-revolution" in their own home may want to make use of safe storage solutions until the work is done so as to ensure their household possessions aren't damaged by a DIY mishap.
